
“Now
to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory
in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever
and ever! Amen.” -Ephesians

5:10 Find out what pleases the Lord. When I read this scripture
it reminds me of a great story in the Old Testament concerning three
of David’s mighty men. In the book of second Samuel chapter
24 we find David at war with thee Philistines. “ 13
During harvest time, three of the thirty chief men came down to
David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped
in the Valley of Rephaim. 14
At that time David was in the stronghold, and the Philistine garrison
was at Bethlehem. 15 David
longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would get me a
drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!" 16
So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew
water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back
to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out
before the LORD. 17 "Far
be it from me, O LORD, to do this!" he said. "Is it not
the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?" And
David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty
men.”
If
you notice David did not order anyone to do this, but because these
men served the King they took it upon themselves to honor even his
wishes. As Christians, we are soldiers in Christ’s army. Our
lives are to serve him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength,
and to do this we must find out what pleases our King and then take
it upon ourselves to honor his every wish.
